The Missouri State women’s soccer squad traveled to Stillwater, Okla., Saturday to compete against the University of Central Oklahoma and Oklahoma State University in two spring exhibition matches.
The Bears played two solid games, defeating UCO 2-0 before battling Oklahoma State to a 0-0 tie, despite difficult, windy playing conditions.
In the first match, the Bears scored their first goal on a corner from Jessica Smits to Racquelle Riley. MSU then tallied a second goal when Christine Cross dribbled 20 yards and eluded the UCO defense, ultimately finding the back of the net to secure the win.
In the second game, the defending Big 12 Conference regular season champions from Oklahoma State managed to keep the Bears out of the scoring column for the entire match. However, the Bears' rugged defense was up to the task and Missouri State matched the OSU shutout to hang on to a 0-0 tie.
"I was really proud of our team and the effort we had on Saturday," said Missouri State coach Rob Brewer. "We did a lot of things really well, and had a good team effort."
The Bears will be back in action on Saturday, April 18 at they travel to Tulsa University in further spring exhibition play.
