Cara Hackmann has been named Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, it was announced by the league office Monday.
Hackmann averaged 8.86 digs over seven sets in two Missouri State wins and equalled the third highest single-match total in school history with 37 against Drake on Saturday. Hackmann’s 37 digs are the most ever at MSU in a four-set match and tie for the fourth highest four-set total in the NCAA this season.
The Washington, Mo., native’s big match Saturday came on the heels of a 25-dig performance in a sweep of Creighton Friday, giving her a 8.33 per set average against the Bluejays.
Missouri State is 17-7 overall and sits second in the MVC standings with a 10-2 league record. The Bears play at Evansville (13-12, 6-7) and Southern Illinois (17-7, 6-7).
