Chelsea Ray has been named the Missouri Valley Conference Diver of the Week for the week of Nov. 2-8.
She is the first Bear to win the award this season.
Ray, three-time Missouri State diver of the year dove against the Lindenwood University Lions on Nov. 6. Last season, against LU, Ray notched her career best scores on both the one-meter and three-meter boards. This year was continued excellence. Ray scored a 254.40 on the one-meter board, just missing the zone qualifying mark of 255.00. She later came and racked up a score of 274.27 off of the high board. Ray placed first in both events.
Ray and the Bears will return to action on Nov. 20, when they travel to West Lafayette, Ind. to compete in the Purdue Invitational. The Purdue Invitational is one of the most prestigious swimming events in the country. Missouri State will have their hands full with some of the best swimming and diving talent in the country. The meet will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Nov. 20 and will conclude at 6:00 p.m. on Nov. 22.<-->-->
