Freshman Marta Nogueroles swam against the University of Iowa Hawkeyes on Oct. 24. Nogueroles won both the 1000-yard freestyle (10:21.41, Missouri Valley Conference top time in the event this season) and the 500-yard freestyle (5:03.97) events. She also swam in the 200-yard butterfly (2:07.90) in which she place third, but set the top time in the MVC. Nogueroles also placed first in the 200-yard freestyle on Oct. 23 at Western Illinois with her time of 1:56.78. She also had the meet's best time in the 400-yard Individual Medley, though the Bears were not scored in that event. With only three events in her collegiate career, Nogueroles has already broken into the Bears all-time top five in the 500-yard freestyle.
The Bears take to the pool again on Oct. 31, when they will take on Drury University at 5:00 p.m. at the Hammons Student Center pool. Drury is the seven-time NCAA Division II national champion in swimming and Missouri State has an 8-10 all-time record on the men's side and 1-5 for the women.
