Missouri State senior defender Johannes Demarzi was named Missouri Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week by the league office on Monday. The award is Demarzi's second of the season having received the same honor on September 21 of this year.
Demarzi began the week by adding an assist on the Bears' third goal in the 3-1 win over Oral Roberts last Wednesday.
On Saturday, Demarzi tallied a goal and an assist in the Missouri State's 2-1 road win over No. 19 Drake. Demarzi scored in the 58th minute on a feed from Ryan Hennessy to tie the match at 1-1. In the 81st minute, he added the game-winning assist on a corner kick converted by Hennessy. Demarzi's assist on Saturday was his team-leading eighth of the season, tying him for the conference lead.
Demarzi and the Bears travel to Evansville to face the Purple Aces at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The team will return home Saturday to begin a three-game homestand against Bradley at 3:00 p.m.
