MEN'S SWIMMING WINS SUN BELT CHAMPIONSHIP

After Saturday’s conclusion of the Sun Belt Conference Swimming and Diving Championship, the Missouri State men’s team tallied 688 team points to claim the conference crown. The University of Denver took second with 654 points. Western Kentucky placed third with 539.5 points, followed by Southern Illinois with 347, Florida Alantic with 121 and Evansville finished sixth with 108 points.

Junior Vic Riffell paced his way to a fourth-place finish in the 1650 freestyle, touching the wall at 15:51.01.J.R. Pyle claimed seventh with a time of 15:54.79.

Eduardo Pajares claimed second in the 200 backstroke with a time of 1:48.42. Pat Bergin finished close behind in seventh-place with a time of 1:50.17.

Senior Ignacio Gayo brought home a silver medal in the 100 freestyle, clocking a time of 44.41. Dillon Burns placed fourth with a personal best time of 45.71.

Freshman Cajun Skinner had one of the top finishes for the Bears claiming the gold in the 200 breaststroke. Skinner clocked a time of 2:00.48. A.J Goertzen turned in a third-place finish with a time of 2:01.81 and Chris Novak finished fifth in a time of 2:03.50.

Serra continued his dominance in the fly events, claming first-place in the 200 butterfly. Serra clocked a time of 1:47.35, setting a new MSU varsity record.

The Bears concluded the championship with the 400 freestyle relay. The foursome of Burns, Ciro Sauaia, Roko Simunic and Gayo swam a time of 3:01.93 to finish fourth.
