Terri Whitmarsh was one of the top hurlers in SMS softball history, pitching for three coaches from 1983 to 1986. SMS advanced to the NCAA tourney in Whitmarsh’s first season. She hurled 73 wins for SMS to set a school career mark and also added records for appearances (133), innings (837), earned run average (0.54), starts (109), complete games (99), strikeouts (545) and shutouts (37). She was an NFCA all-region selection as a senior, was a two-time all-conference selection, was named to the school’s all-decade team in 1992 and was named the Outstanding SMS Female Athlete as a senior in 1986.
