A four-year field hockey starter for the Bears, Chris Dufner was the school’s all-time leading scorer when she graduated in 1980. Dufner started and led the Bears to a record of 95-11-2 in her four seasons and helped lead the team to a national championship in 1979. She was a second-team All-American her senior year. In softball, Dufner helped the Bears to three state championships and two seventh place finishes and one ninth place finish in the College World Series. She was in the top three in numerous single-season softball records and the career leader in walks and runs batted in when she hung up her spikes. She graduated from SMS in 1980 with a B.S. in business finance and received her master’s from Michigan in business two years later.
