The Missouri State women’s soccer team landed seven players on All-Missouri Valley Conference teams, the league announced Thursday evening. Senior Jackie Jasper, junior Samantha Aguilar and sophomore Jordan Reppell earned first-team accolades, junior Jessica Smits and senior Allie Osmundson were voted to the second team, sophomore Christine Cross was an honorable mention selection and Kelsey Finders was honored with a spot on the All-Freshman team.
A goalkeeper from Lockport, Ill., Jasper has recorded 78 saves and a 0.91 goals against average this season. Her 10 shut outs and .830 save percentage in goal tops the 2008 Valley charts. She ranks first in five of six career statistical categories in the Missouri State record books. Jasper ranks first in the record books in career goals against average with a .955, first in shutouts with 27, first in goalkeeper wins with 41, first in matches started in goal with 76, first in minutes in goal with 7,038 and second in saves with 360.
Aguilar, a midfielder from Lenexa, Kan., is the leading scorer for Missouri State this season, tabbing seven goals and three assists for 17 points. In her career at Missouri State, Aguilar has recorded 10 goals and seven assists. She has played in 58 matches as a Bear including 43 starts. Aguilar was a MVC honorable mention last season.
Anchoring the Bears’ defensive line, sophomore defender Reppell has helped led the Bears to 10 shutouts this season. The St. Louis, Mo. native has guided Missouri State’s defense to a 0.87 goals against average allowing opponents only 16 goals in 18 matches. Reppell earned a spot on the MVC All-Freshman team a year ago.
Smits, a defender from Jenks, Okla., has started and played in all 18 matches this season for the Bears. She has recorded three assists and three points in 2008 and six assists and six points in her career at Missouri State. Smits had helped lead the Bears to a 0.87 goals against average and has been a major contributor this season in the backfield.
Osmundson, a repeat first-team selection, has recorded two goals and three assists for seven points from the midfield position this season. The Marshalltown, Iowa native has started and played in all 73 matches in the past four years as a Bear. She is a four year starter for the Missouri State soccer squad and has scored nine goals and six assists in her career.
A midfielder from Lake Lotawana, Mo., Cross has netted two goals and recorded three assists for nine points this season. She has played in 37 contests for Missouri State, tabbing two goals and five assists in her career. Last season, Cross was selected to the MVC All-Freshman squad.
Finders, a freshman from St. Charles, Mo. has registered five goals in her one year at Missouri State. She ranks third on the team in points with 10 and has recorded 17 shots this season, with 12 of those shots on goal (.706).
