Missouri State freshman middle hitter
Calli Norman has earned the Missouri Valley Conference Freshman of the Week award, the league office announced Monday. The award is Norman’s second MVC honor this season as she was also the league’s Player of the Week on Oct. 20.
Norman reached double figures in kills in all three matches, averaging 3.15 per set on .286 hitting and ending the week with a career-high 20 in a win over Southern Illinois. She also led MSU with 3.81 points per set for the week.
The rookie from St. Charles, Mo., had 10 kills Tuesday versus Texas-Pan American and then hit over .400 in two conference wins.
Friday versus Evansville, Norman had 11 kills on 18 swings and hit .444 while adding seven blocks, then hit .405 with 20 kills and eight blocks in a defeat of SIU. Norman averaged 1.31 blocks per set for the week and added two digs.
