The Missouri State Bears will host the University of Central Arkansas Bears on Tuesday (Oct. 7). MSU comes into the game with momentum after a second place finish in the Comfort Inn & Suites Homecoming Classic over the weekend.
The Bears finished the weekend with a 1-1 record in the Bradley tournament. MSU defeated the Howard Bison on Friday (Oct. 3) with a 2-0 victory provided by Heath Melugin’s and Johannes Demarzi’s first goals of the season. The Bears concluded the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs but finished second in the tournament ahead of host Bradley.
The Missouri State Bears are led defensively by goalkeeper Alex Riggs who was named to the all-tournament team after setting a single game record for saves against Alabama A&M on Saturday with 11. Riggs finished the weekend with 15 total save and pushed his season total to 55.
The UCA Bears enter the game with a 2-7-1 record after forcing the Centenary Gents to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Sunday (Oct. 5). UCA’s wins came against Rider and Belmont in early September. The Bears have struggled offensively this season and are 4-1 in their last five games.
The MSU Bears enter the match with a 2-6-3 record and will look to steal a win before they enter conference play on Saturday (Oct. 11). The game against the UCA Bears will be held at Plaster Field on Tuesday (Oct. 7) at 7 p.m.
