Men's Soccer to Host Central Arkansas in Nonconference Game

The Missouri State Bears will host the University of Central Arkansas Bears on Tuesday (Oct. 7). MSU comes into the game with momentum after a second place finish in the Comfort Inn & Suites Homecoming Classic over the weekend.

The Bears finished the weekend with a 1-1 record in the Bradley tournament.  MSU defeated the Howard Bison on Friday (Oct. 3) with a 2-0 victory provided by Heath Melugin’s and Johannes Demarzi’s first goals of the season.  The Bears concluded the tournament with a 1-0 loss to the Alabama A&M Bulldogs but finished second in the tournament ahead of host Bradley.

The Missouri State Bears are led defensively by goalkeeper Alex Riggs who was named to the all-tournament team after setting a single game record for saves against Alabama A&M on Saturday with 11. Riggs finished the weekend with 15 total save and pushed his season total to 55.

The UCA Bears enter the game with a 2-7-1 record after forcing the Centenary Gents to a 1-1 tie in double overtime on Sunday (Oct. 5).  UCA’s wins came against Rider and Belmont in early September.  The Bears have struggled offensively this season and are 4-1 in their last five games.

The MSU Bears enter the match with a 2-6-3 record and will look to steal a win before they enter conference play on Saturday (Oct. 11).  The game against the UCA Bears will be held at Plaster Field on Tuesday (Oct. 7) at 7 p.m.
