The Missouri State volleyball team picked up a non-conference sweep of Southern Illinois-Edwardsville Tuesday evening at Hammons Student Center by scores of 25-12, 25-18 and 25-11.
Junior outside hitter
Addie Foley notched her first career double-double, pairing a career-high 11 digs with a team-high 10 kills. Senior
Nikki Vandepopulier matched her career high with four aces as well.
Other notable offensive performances for the Bears, who improved to 13-7 on the season, came from a pair of freshmen.
Kelley Michnowicz had eight kills and hit .533, while
Calli Norman hit .467 with eight kills as well. MSU hit .293 as a team.
Terri Del Conte had 15 digs to lead the Bears for the 10th match in a row.
Missouri State led throughout the first set in the 25-12 win and did not trail until SIUE went up 2-0 in the second set. The Bears answered that brief deficit by hitting .324 as a team and blocking four Cougar attacks.
MSU closed the match out in a hurry in the third set, jumping ahead 7-0. The Bears held the Cougars to six kills and .000 hitting in the final set while cruising to the win.
Missouri State aced the Cougars seven times while only surrendering one ace. SIUE fell to 7-9.
The Bears return to Missouri Valley Conference play Friday when they host Bradley.
