Jamie Adams and Sara Staubach each posted career-highs for kills in a three-game match Saturday evening to lead the Missouri State volleyball team to its 11th straight victory with a 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-22) sweep of Missouri Valley Conference rival Evansville at Hammons Student Center in Springfield.

The Bears are now 16-2 overall and 6-0 in MVC matches, while UE drops to 8-8 and 1-4 in the league.

Adams (19-2-34, .500) and Staubach (16-5-36, .304) provided the majority of MSU’s offense on a night where the Bears tallied 56 kills on .224 hitting in three games. The pair combined for 12 kills on .579 hitting in the first game to help the Bears edge the visiting Aces by a 30-26 score. MSU led by as many as six at 15-9 only to see the Aces go on an 8-2 run to tie it and then take the lead at 24-22. The Bears closed the game with an 8-2 run of their own for the early advantage.

Game two was a repeat of the first, with MSU leading 18-14 before Evansville took the lead at 24-23. The Bears again rallied late to win 30-27, with Staubach and Adams providing another six kills each in the period. UE hit .-022 in game two but capitalized on three MSU service aces and three blocks to keep the score close.

Missouri State left little doubt in game three, grabbing the early advantage at 11-6 and preventing the Purple Aces from getting closer than three points the rest of the game. MSU hit .268 in game three with Adams totaling seven kills without an error. The defense also stepped up with six blocks, including three from Katelyn Panzau.

MSU held Evansille to .092 hitting in the match, with the Aces combining for an .011 attack efficiency in the last two games. The Bears finished the match with 60 digs and nine blocks.

Missouri State hosts Wichita State (13-4, 5-1) Friday at 7 p.m. in a battle of two of the league’s top three teams in the standings.
