Missouri State Falls to Kansas, 1-0

The Missouri State University women’s soccer team dropped its second road game of the season in a 1-0 overtime decision Tuesday to the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kan. The Jayhawks offensively outplayed the Bears taking 14 shots to Missouri State’s nine earning the victory.

KU’s Kim Boyer scored her first goal of the season in the second minute of overtime, tapping a cross pass from forward Jessica Bush into the back of the net past Bears’ keeper Jackie Jasper.

The Jawhawks, who snapped a four-game losing streak with the win, improve to 1-5-1 overall. The loss drops Missouri State to 4-3 on the season.

The Jayhawks’ defensive efforts allowed the Bears to record only one shot in the first half to KU’s eight. Missouri State outcornered KU 8-1 but could not establish an offensive attack. Jayhawk keeper Colleen Quinn posted four saves to Jasper’s three.

The Bears will travel to Fayetteville, Ark. to take on the University of Arkansas in a 7:00 p.m. match on Friday, Sept. 21.
