Missouri State Volleyball ranks among the best in the nation, according to the Academic Progress Rate (APR) that was released by the NCAA. Based on its athletes’ success in the classroom, MSU received a Public Recognition Award for volleyball.
The APR was developed as a more real-time assessment of teams’ academic performance than the six-year graduation-rate calculation provides. The APR awards two points per semester to student-athletes who meet academic eligibility standards and remain enrolled at an institution. A team’s APR is the total points earned by the team at a given time divided by the total points possible.
The volleyball program’s APR was a perfect 1,000 during the 2005-06 academic year.
Teams that are in the top 10 percent of their sport are given Public Recognition Awards.
Missouri State completed a 27-9 season and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament in the fall.
