Missouri State Women's Soccer Signs 10 for 2007

The Missouri State women's soccer team and head coach Rob Brewer have received commitments from 10 student-athletes to play for the Bears in 2007. The new signees are Beth Bystrom (Ames, Iowa), Christine Cross (Lake Lotawana, Mo.), Jessica Depew (Lee's Summit, Mo.), Megan Flecke (St. Louis, Mo.), Brooke Inman (St. Louis, Mo.), Kellie Jensen (Leawood, Kan.) Sarah Linsin (Stilwell, Kan.), Jordan Reppell (St. Louis, Mo.), Shannon Russell (Stilwell, Kan.) and Jessica Teahan (Lenexa, Kan.).

"This group of 10 players is without a doubt the deepest and most talented class we have ever signed at Missouri State," stated Brewer. "Their soccer pedigree is outstanding as each of these student-athletes competes on club teams that are of the highest caliber in their area. Each of them has also been on championship teams ranging from national, regional, state and conference levels. They all come from programs that expect to win! I expect this group to impact our program from day one and I look forward a very successful 2007," concluded Brewer.

Beth Bystrom, 5-8, Forward, Ames, Iowa

Beth Bystrom will join the Bears from Ames High School. She competed for the Ames Little Cyclones for the last three years and has put together an impressive resume, with her senior season yet to begin. Bystrom earned all-state honorable mention as a sophomore and a junior and is currently her high school's career leader in assists (37), points (131), and is two goals away from being the all-time leading goal scorer. She is a two-time first-team all-conference winner and served as captain in her junior campaign. Bystrom also competes as a forward on the No. 1 soccer club in Iowa, the West Des Moines Soccer Club. Her club team has won the state cup four times. The Iowa native also earned varsity letters in basketball, volleyball and cross country.

Christine Cross, 5-6, Midfielder, Lake Lotawana, Mo.

Christine Cross led the Lee's Summit North Broncos to three-straight district championships, earning first-team all-district honors all three years. In her junior season, Cross's team went undefeated and placed first in sectionals and competed in the state quarterfinals. She was voted to the all-conference second team and the all-area first team. Cross has started and played every match since her freshman year and earned first-team all-conference honors as a freshman. The Lake Lotawana, Mo., native also played for the KC Dynamos.

Jessica Depew, 5-2, Defender, Lee's Summit, Mo.

Jessica Depew will become a Bear after competing with fellow signee Christine Cross at Lee's Summit North High. Depew played a major role in the Broncos' three-straight district championships, serving as co-captain her junior year and starting and playing every match since her freshman year. Depew is a three-time first-team all-conference, all-district and all-area winner and was selected to the all-state second team as a junior. She also competed for the KC Dynamos. Depew was a member of the Missouri ODP Team from 2003-04.

Megan Flecke, 5-6, Midfielder, St. Louis, Mo.

Megan Flecke joins Brooke Inman from Oakville Senior High and will compete for the Bears in 2007. Flecke helped her school to three-straight district and conference championships and to the state quarterfinals her sophomore and junior years. She also competed on the nine-time state cup champion St. Louis Soccer Club that ranks eighth in the nation.

Brooke Inman, 5-5, Forward, St. Louis, Mo.

Brooke Inman was voted Most Valuable Forward her sophomore and junior seasons at Oakville High in St. Louis, Mo. Inman led her team to three-straight district and conference championships and to the quarterfinals in the state tournament her sophomore and junior years. She was a first-team all-conference winner in her third year as she led Oakville with 12 goals. Inman also competes for the St. Louis Soccer Club.

Kellie Jensen, 5-4, Defender, Leawood, Kan.

Kellie Jensen comes to Missouri State after competing two years for the University of Nebraska. As a Husker, Jensen played an important role in defense, helping NU hold opponents to just 24 goals on 97 attempts her sophomore season. Prior to college, Jensen was named the 2004 Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year for Blue Valley West High. She was a two-time team co-captain and led her team to the Kansas 5A state title in 2002. The Leawood, Kan., native was also a part of the Kansas City Dynamos club that was six-time regional finalists, two-time regional champions and won the national title in 2001. Current Bear Caroline Sweeney was on the same team. Jensen was a member of the ODP Region II squad from 2003-2005.

Sarah Linsin, 5-6, Defender, Stilwell, Kan.

Sarah Linsin has competed the last three years for Blue Valley West in Overland Park, Kan., and for the KCFC Soccer Club. Her club team was the Kansas State Cup Champion her freshman and sophomore years and state runner-up last season. KCFC also ranks ninth in the nation. Linsin led Blue Valley West to the divisional, regional and state championships her sophomore year. She was selected to the all-state second team as a junior.

Jordan Reppell, 5-7, Defender, St. Louis, Mo.

Jordan Reppell comes to Missouri State after leading the St. Joseph Academy Angels to a third-place state finish her junior season and being selected to the all-state first team. Reppell played with Flecke on the eighth-ranked St. Louis Soccer Club that won the state cup nine times. In 2006. she spent time as a defender with the Missouri ODP Team. She also competed three years as a guard for the Angels' basketball team.

Shannon Russell, 5-6, Defender, Stilwell, Kan.

Shannon Russell was selected to the all-state first team her junior year after leading the Blue Valley West Jaguars to the state finals. She was on the Eastern Kansas League first team and was an All-Sun County honorable mention pick. In her sophomore season, Russell guided the Jaguars to the regional and state championships. Russell was also a member of the KCFC Soccer Club and was selected to the ODP State Team. Her sister, Sam Russell, will be a senior on Creighton's soccer squad.

Jessica Teahan, 5-10, Goalkeeper, Lenexa, Kan.

Jessica Teahan joins the Bears from St. Thomas Aquinas High in Overland Park, Kan. Teahan played goalkeeper for the Saints and helped them to state championships her sophomore and junior seasons. She recorded 10 shutouts her junior year. Teahan also played between the pipes for the nationally ranked KC Dynamos club team and was on the Kansas state ODP Team. In 2006, Teahan was selected as a member of the Regional II Pool.
