The Missouri State men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams rolled to victories Monday at the conclusion of the Delta State Christmas Invitational in Cleveland, Miss. After three stellar days of competition at the DSU Aquatics Center the men tallied 1045 points and the women totaled 984. On the men’s side Tampa (782) finished second followed by Delta State (529). In the women’s competition, Delta State (823) placed second, while Tampa (659) came in third.
Katharina Voelkel claimed first in the 1650 free with a time of 17:32.31 while teammate Hilary Morrow followed close behind to take second.
Sophomore Frannie Moody continued her success in the 200 breast leading the pack with a time of 2:24.60 to claim first.
On the men’s side Ciro Sauaia finished first in the 100 back and Eduardo Pajares dominated in the 200 back competition taking first with a time of 1:49.28.
Cajun Skinner was a winner in the 200 breast with a time of 2:04.13.
Victor Serra was the only other event winner for the Bears on the third day of competition. He swam a time of 1:47.26 to claim first in the 200 fly.
The Bears’ swimming and diving teams will be back in the water Saturday, Jan. 12 in Columbia, Mo. The Bears will challenge the University of Missouri at 2:00 p.m.
