The Missouri State women’s soccer team placed five student-athletes on the All-Missouri Valley Conference teams and three on the MVC All-Freshman team, the league announced Thursday. Jackie Jasper was named the MVC Defensive Player of the Year and was selected to the MVC first team along with Allison Osmundson. Jordan Reppell was selected to the second team and Samantha Aguilar and Megan Beebe were recognized as honorable mention picks. Reppell was also named to the All-Freshman team along with Christine Cross and Shannon Russell.
Jasper, earning her third all-conference honor, started all 19 matches for the Bears this season. The junior recorded 76 saves on the year with seven shutouts. Jasper spent 1771:47 minutues in goal for the Bears and posted a .81 goals-against average this season. Jaspers’ .81 goals-against average ranks second on Missouri State’s season leaders chart.
Osmundson, a junior from Marshalltown, Iowa, has scored two game-winning goals for Missouri State this season. She has two assists and five points.
A St. Louis, Mo. native, Reppell played in all 19 matches for Missouri State. Anchoring the backline, she helped lead the Bears to a .81 goals-against average and seven shutouts. Reppell had one assist in a conference victory over Drake.
Sophomore Aguilar earned her second All-Missouri Valley Conference honor. She tallied one goal and one assist this season.
Beebe, a senior from Broken Arrow, Okla. started all 19 matches for the Bears this season at defender as the Bears posted seven shutouts and recorded a a .81 goals-against average.
Freshman Christine Cross competed in all Bears matches’ this season. She has posted two assists and two points.
Defender Shannon Russell was a key defensive player in the Bears’ backline, helping Missouri State to post seven shutouts and holding opponents to 16 goals in 19 games.
The Bears ended their season with a 6-11-2 overall record and a 2-2-2 mark in the Valley. The Bears dropped a 2-1 double overtime decision to Drake in the Missouri Valley Conference quarterfinals.
