Men's Swimming among the nation's finest

The Missouri State University men’s swimming and diving team is among the teams receiving votes in this week’s College Swim Coaches Association of America Weekly dual meet rankings. MSU men pulled in four votes and currently rank No. 35 in the nation. Pollsters representing eight conferences along with two at-large voters have the task of ranking the top dual meet teams in the nation bi-weekly throughtout the season. The Bears’ men’s team is also ranked second in the Mid-Major Division 1 Power Rankings, while the women are ranked 10th. The power rankings serve as an indication of the team’s strength in dual meets and are calculated by CollegeSwimming.com

The men started the 2007-08 season with a 4-2 dual record as well as capturing a fourth-place finish in the Purdue Invitational where they outscored the University of Florida, which ranks No. 5 in the country. The Bears claimed first place in the Henderson State Invitational and second in the Show Me Showdown earlier this season.

In the Mid-Major Poll, Navy claimed the No. 1 spot with 183.48 points, while Missouri State follows close behind boasting 178.61 points.

The Missouri State women’s team is ranked 10th in the Mid-Major poll with a 3-4 dual record. The poll is topped by Harvard University.

The Bears’ swimming and diving teams will be back in the water Friday-Saturday, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, when they compete in the University of Arkansas-Little Rock Christmas Invitational. The meet is scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
