
Thomas earns second defensive honor

Missouri State senior volleyball player Sara Thomas is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
It is the second time the Swansea, Ill., native has won the award this season, and her fourth MVC weekly honor after winning Player of the Week twice as well.
Thomas averaged 3.00 digs and 1.86 blocks per game in two Missouri State victories. The senior began the weekend with seven blocks in just three games at Evansville on Friday, and then added six more to go with 15 digs in the Bears’ 3-1 win at Southern Illinois. She also contributed on the offensive side, averaging 2.43 kills on .282 hitting.
