Missouri State’s Shayla Patrick is this week’s Missouri Valley Conference volleyball Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.

A native of Solon, Ohio, Patrick hit .419 in two weekend victories to lead MSU in that category, while averaging 2.57 kills and 1.29 blocks per game to earn the honor for the second time in 2007.

At Drake on Friday, Patrick had a career-high with 14 kills, doing so on 22 swings with three errors for a .500 hitting percentage. She added four kills on nine swings at Creighton, and led all players with six blocks against the Bluejays.
