Sorlie to leave MSU men's soccer program

Missouri State men’s soccer assistant coach Eric Sorlie has accepted a position with the Springfield Soccer Club as Director of Player Development, and will leave the Bears’ program at the end of January. Sorlie spent six seasons as an assistant coach with the Bears, as the team won 59 matches during his involvement with the team. Sorlie will join former MSU assistant coach Jeremy Alumbaugh at the Springfield Soccer Club.

"I am extremely sad to lose Eric after six years of coaching and day-to-day involvement with our program, but I am extremely happy that Eric and his wife will continue to be a part of the Springfield soccer community and MSU soccer," said head coach Jon Leamy. "I know I am speaking for everyone that we support Eric and wish him success with his new position. I will forever be grateful for everything Eric has done for the program and especially me."

Sorlie played collegiate soccer at West Texas A&M and earned a bachelor’s degree in sport and exercise science in 2000. He received a master’s degree in administrative studies with a sports management certificate from Missouri State in 2006. Eric and his wife, Timaree, were married on Dec. 9, 2006.
