Tulsa's Molly Fitzsimmons notched the only goal of the match as the Golden Hurricane edged Missouri State 1-0 Sunday at Cooper Sports Complex.
The Golden Hurricane, who snapped a three-game losing streak with the win, improve to 4-5 overall. The Bears had a seven-game unbeaten string halted and dip to 7-3-1 on the season.
Fitzsimmons scored her first goal of the season in the sixth minute of the game, heading the ball over Missouri State goalkeeper Jackie Jasper off a corner kick.
The Bears narrowly missed tying the game just a short minute later as Tulsa goalkeeper Meredith Hart found herself one-on-one with MSU's Angela Parsons. Parsons slid the ball just a few inches wide, knocking the right post.
Chelsea Anderson led the offense for the Bears, posting five shots and two on goal. The Bears registered 15 shots as a team, one more than the Golden Hurricane. Jasper recorded seven saves in the match and Tulsa's Hart had six.
Missouri State opens up Missouri Valley Conference play on Friday, Sept. 29, visiting Drake in Des Moines, Iowa. The contest is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
