The Missouri State women's soccer team played Memphis to a scoreless draw in double overtime, Friday at Plaster Field. Memphis outshot the Bears 16-13, but MSU goalkeeper Jackie Jasper turned down five Memphis shots on goal to preserve her fourth consecutive shutout and fifth of the season.
Missouri State had its best scoring opportunity in regulation in the 74th minute as Kate Blair barely missed a goal, nudging the ball just wide.
The Bears just missed another scoring chance in the first overtime period when Caroline Sweeney fired a shot off a perfect cross from Chelsea Anderson with three minutes on the clock. Tigers' goalkeeper Isabel Briones did not allow Sweeney's shot to reach the back of the net.
Missouri State remains unbeaten on its home turf, and extends it unbeaten streak to seven. The Bears are now 7-2-1 on the season.
The Bears end their homestand against Tulsa on Sunday, Sept. 24, at Cooper Sports Complex at 1 p.m.
