The Missouri State men's soccer team fell in an exhibition match to Rockhurst University, 3-2, Monday night in Kansas City, Mo. Freshmen Kyle Windmueller and Will Ziegahn each scored for the Bears in the team's opening contest of the 2006 season.
Missouri State trailed 2-0 at halftime, as Rockhurst scored in the 16th and 32nd minutes of the first half. The Bears answered with two second half goals to tie the match at 2-2. Windmueller scored in the 63rd minute to cut the Rockhurst lead to 2-1, and Ziegahn evened the score in the 79th minute. It did not take long for Rockhurst to regain the lead. Mark Anthony Foster scored his second goal of the match less than a minute after the Bears had tied the score, giving Rockhurst their final margin of victory, 3-2.
Junior Lance Parker got the start in goal for Missouri State, allowing two goals and recording two saves in 70 minutes of action. Freshman Alex Riggs allowed one goal while recording a save in 20 minutes of action.
The Bears return to action Saturday, Aug. 19, with a home exhibition match against the University of Tulsa, beginning at 7 p.m. at Plaster Field.
