Missouri State volleyball player Shanda Harper is this week’s MVC Freshman of the Week, it was announced by the league office Monday.
It is the second time this season Harper has received the award.
Harper stood out all week and finished with 29 kills, one shy of the team lead, averaging 3.22 per game on .404 hitting in three road matches. She added six total digs, 1.11 blocks per game and an assist.
Harper was the only Bear to reach double figures in kills against Oral Roberts on Tuesday, finishing with 14 on 23 swings against just two errors, good for a .522 attack percentage. Her 14 kills matched a career high.
She added eight kills against Southern Illinois and chipped in seven on .385 hitting Saturday at Evansville.
Harper and the Bears close a five-match road stretch at 6 p.m. Tuesday against Southeast Missouri State before returning this weekend to play Drake on Friday and Creighton on Saturday. Both weekend matches begin at 7 p.m.
