Missouri State sophomore Jackie Jasper has been named this week's Brine/Missouri Valley Conference Defensive Player of the Week for her effort in helping the Bears extend their season, the league office announced Monday.
Jasper posted 19 saves for a .950 save percentage in two matches played, including 14 in the Bears’ 1-0 victory over Illinois State in the MVC quarterfinal match. The Redbirds outshot Missouri State 25-6 but Jasper was unbeatable as she blocked all 14 shots on goal. With 108 saves on the season, Jasper moves into third on MSU’s single-season leaders list for saves.
The Missouri State women's soccer team will compete against Drake in Omaha, Neb., on Friday, Nov. 3, in the MVC semifinals. The match is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. The championship match, if the Bears should advance, is scheduled for Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3:05 p.m. The game will air live on ESPNU.
