Drake's Ryan Moylan scored the match's first two goals and the Bulldogs held on for a 3-1 Missouri Valley Conference victory over the Missouri State men's soccer team, 3-1, Saturday night in Des Moines, Iowa. Junior Ryan Anderson scored the Bears' lone goal of the night, but it was not enough as MSU fell to 8-6-3 and 3-2-1 in the MVC. Drake improved to 5-7-4 and 2-1-2.
Moylan scored in the 36th minute to put the Bulldogs up 1-0 at the half. Moylan struck again in the 55th minute, giving the Bulldogs a 2-0 advantage and all the offense they would need. Anderson got the Bears within a goal in the 66th minute, but Drake's Alex Bollinger extended the Bulldogs' lead back to two with a goal in the 86th minute to put the Bears away.
On a cold and rainy night, the Bears outshot Drake, 11-9, but could not overcome Drake's efficient offensive attack. Junior goalkeeper Lance Parker took the loss, with freshman Alex Riggs finishing the final 34 minutes.
Missouri State will finish its regular season campaign with a nonconference match at Western Illinois Univeristy on Tuesday, Oct. 24, in Macomb, Ill., at 3 p.m.
