Missouri State’s volleyball team picked up its third win a row in convincing fashion Tuesday evening, sweeping Southeast Missouri State by scores of 30-23, 30-12 and 30-16 at Houck Fieldhouse in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
The Bears moved to 14-4 on the season, while the Redhawks evened their record at 10-10.
Game one was the best offensive game for both clubs, as the Bears hit .333 to SEMO’s .130 in the 30-23 win. Reigning MVC Freshman of the Week Shanda Harper had four kills on five swings in the period on her way to eight for the match. She also added seven blocks in the contest.
Missouri State asserted its dominance in game two, limiting SEMO to just three kills on the way to a 30-12 victory. Senior Erin O’Connor had seven of her team-high 11 kills in the game, while also turning in three of her five block solos on the night.
MSU opened the final game on an 11-1 run and cruised to a 30-16 victory for the sweep. Jamie Adams was the star of the finale with five kills on .714 hitting in the game.
Adams finished the match with nine kills, and Katelyn Panzau led the team with 34 assists and added eight kills on 14 swings.
Adeana McAfee paced the squad with 13 digs, O’Connor chipped in 11 and Nikki Vandepopulier finished in double figures for the first time in 13 matches with 10 digs. Vandepopulier also had an outstanding night at the service line with a career-high three aces.
Missouri State hit .258 for the match and blocked 16 balls. SEMO was limited to a -.051 attack percentage and just four blocks.
The Bears return home this weekend to play Drake (3-14, 0-7) on Friday and Creighton (14-4, 6-1) on Saturday. Both weekend matches begin at 7 p.m.
