Bears Blank College of Charleston, 2-0

Sophomore Kate Blair netted her third game-winning goal of the season just over six minutes into the contest to give the Missouri State women's soccer squad a 2-0 shutout victory over the College of Charleston, Sunday, at Cooper Sports Complex. The win ends a two-game homestand for the Bears (4-2-2), who now take to the road for four straight matches, beginning Friday in Bowling Green, Ky., against the Western Kentucky Lady Toppers at 7 p.m.

Blair's goal at the 6:08 mark came off a Caroline Rooker cornerkick, put into the box to Allison Osmundson who fed Blair for the eventual game winner.

The match remained 1-0 until the 62nd minute, when College of Charleston goalkeeper Erin Smith was pulled out of the net and Missouri State junior Chelsea Anderson regained possession and sent the ball into the net, for her second goal of the season.

Missouri State outshot the Cougars 17-3 in the first half, and 20-8 for the match. The Bears placed nine shots on goal, to C of C's four, and outcornered the Cougars 9-4. Anderson put up five shots for the Bears, placing four on goal, while Blair had four shots, with three on goal.

Jackie Jasper earned her third shutout of the season in goal for the Bears, and improved to 4-2-2 on the season. Smith took the loss for College of Charleston, pulling in seven saves in the match.
