Missouri State women's soccer junior Chelsea Anderson was selected to the State Farm Missouri Valley Conference All-Tournament team, announced at the conclusion of tournament play Sunday.
The Omaha, Neb., native contributed to each of the Bears' two goals in Missouri State's opening round match with Evansville. Anderson got the Bears on the board at the 31st minute to tie the match at 1-1 and fed sophomore Lauren Heck at the 68:19 mark, knotting the score at 2-2. The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with the Purple Aces moving on to the MVC Tournament semifinals with a 4-2 decision in penalty kicks. Anderson had nine of the Bears' 22 shots against Evansville, placing six shots on goal.
Anderson started in all 18 matches for the Bears in 2005 and led the Bears offensively with 18 points, seven goals, tied for the assists lead with four, and was second with two game-winning goals. She finished the season tied for third in the Valley standings with seven goals, tied for third with 18 points, and was fourth with 26 shots on goal. Anderson was named MVC Player of the Week for the week of Oct. 10, 2005, after scoring just the third hat trick in Missouri State women’s soccer history in the Bears’ 3-1 win over Northern Iowa. Anderson was a second team MVC All-Conference selection for the 2005 campaign, as well as a second team ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VII pick.
