Third Annual Dale Williams intrasquad alumni swimming and diving meet

The Missouri State swimming and diving teams held their Third Annual Dale Williams Intrasquad Alumni meet Saturday at Hammons Student Center Pool. The men's maroon team won 127-121 and the women's maroon team won 139-127.

 On the men's side, Eduardo Pajares took first place in the 200 freestyle with his personal best time of the season at 1:44.46. J.R. Pyle finished a close second at 1:46.53, his personal best time of the season. Matt Beasley and Seth Johnson swam their best times in the 200 IM with Beasley coming in first at 1:55.73 and Johnson second at 1:56.35.

 There was great competition among Ignacio Gayo, Mitch Richards and Victor Serra in the 50 freestyle. All three swimmers clocked their best times of the season, but it was Gayo who came out on top (21.42), Richards touching the wall second (21.53), and Serra with the close third (21.91).

 On the women's side, Ericka Norgren set her best time in the 50 freestyle at 25.50 taking first place, followed by Kristen Boren at 25.90. Marcy O'Neil came in first in the 100 freestyle at 53.23 with Liz Geisler (54.51) and Ericka Norgren (54.79) finishing close behind.

Along with the intrasquad meet, there were 20 Missouri State alumni swimmers competing against each other in four events. Allison Yates (2000-04) won the 50 freestyle alumni event for the women and Raichin Antonov (2001-05) was the winner over the men alumni at 21.37. Tyler Kent (2001-04) was the winner for the women in the fly at 29.02 and Brendan Pienaar (2000-04) won the event on the men's side at 24.46. Katie Boarman (2001-05) won the 50 breaststroke at 33.98 and Miro Majorahn (2000-04) won with a time of 28.48. In the 50 backstroke, it was Lindsey Probizanski (2002-05) coming in first at 30.64 and Ross Mueller (2005-05) taking first for the men at 28.40.

The Bear swimmers and divers will be back in action Friday, Nov. 4, at 4:00 p.m. in Lawrence, Kan. The men will compete against University of Iowa as the women face Iowa and University of Kansas.
