Johnson posted a pair of double-doubles as part of a 2-0 week for the Bears, leading MSU in scoring and rebounding twice and posting a season-high in scoring in the Valley opener. In MSU’s 66-50 victory over Wright State in the non-conference finale, he logged 12 points and 14 rebounds with a game-high 4 assists. He followed that effort with a game-high – and personal season-best -- 24 points in MSU’s victory over Loyola in the MVC opener. He also tallied a game-high 11 rebounds behind a career-best five 3-pointers (5-for-10 from 3-point range). For the week, he averaged 18.0 points, 12.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists, making 41.7 percent of his 3-point attempts.
