This week's Murney Student-Athlete of the Week is Missouri State women's tennis player Diana Cabrera. When both Missouri State and Drury were tied at three apiece with one match left in play, Cabrera clinched Friday's dual for the Bears, defeating DU's No. 1 singles player in a three-set thriller, 3-6, 6-3, 7-6 (7-0). During Saturday's dual versus Eastern Illinois, Cabrera also took down EIU's No. 1 singles player. Her win gave the Bears a commanding 3-0 lead against the Panthers, and MoState eventually secured the dual, 5-2. Cabrera also found success in doubles over the weekend, playing with teammate Alyson Piskulic. On Friday, the pair secured the doubles point for the Bears with a win in flight two doubles. The point proved to be vital, as MSU defeated Drury in a closely contested dual, 4-3. The script was repeated on Saturday against Eastern Illinois, as Cabrera/Piskulic's 6-4 victory in the No. 2 position against EIU helped the Bears clinch the doubles point. MSU won the dual, 5-2.
