Amanda Schmelzer

Amanda Schmelzer joined Missouri State as Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance in October 2023.

Schmelzer oversees the rules education, enforcement and interpretation efforts for Missouri State's 400 student-athletes and nearly 100 staffers. She also serves as the primary liaison for all matters related to the NCAA's transfer portal, NIL, signing day and waiver activities.

Prior to coming to Missouri State, Schmelzer spent six years at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin where she held the positions of assistant AD for compliance and academic services (2019 to 2023) and academic advisor / athletic support specialist (2017 to 2019). She also served as an adjunct professor at MSSU since 2018.

Prior to entering the field of college athletics, she served as an attorney in Joplin (2005 to 2017) after earning her law degree from Tulsa in 2000. She also served as a graduate assistant in Athletics during her time at Tulsa.

A member of the NAAC, Missouri Partners in Prevention and Women Leaders in College Sports, she holds a master's degree from Oklahoma State (1997) in Health, Physical Education and Leisure and a B.S. in Recreation Management from Pittsburg State in 1995.
