2012-13: Chvatal played in 24 games with six starts as a true freshman, playing 8.4 minutes per game and averaging 1.5 points and 2.3 rebounds...Finished the year with nine blocked shots, five assists and four steals...Debuted with seven points and three rebounds in 18 minutes against No. 22 Oklahoma State (Nov. 13)...Scored six points and grabbed seven boards at Bradley (Jan. 12)...Joined the starting lineup the next game and responded with seven more rebounds against Drake (Jan. 19)...Excelled against DU on the road Feb. 16, pulling down eight boards to go with six points and two blocks...Stuffed two shots the next game against Southern Illinois (Feb. 21)...Started four of the season’s final six games...Shot 15-of-40 (.375) for the year.
Background: One of the top rebounders in Kansas girls basketball history, Chvatal was the team MVP for Rawlins County High School in Atwood, Kan., each of her four prep seasons...Owns the school’s career rebounding record, pulling down over 1,300 caroms in her career to more than double the previous mark, and also holds the school’s career scoring and made free throw records...Kansas Class 2A first-team all-state selection following both her junior and senior seasons...Posted 22.1 points, 14.9 rebounds, 3.2 blocks and 3.1 steals per game as a senior while shooting 56.5-percent from the field...Led the state of Kansas in both scoring (25.1) and rebounding (17.7) as a junior, ranking 15th nationally in rebounds and holding a 3.8 boards per game lead over second place in Kansas...Also totaled 3.4 blocks as a junior to rank sixth in the state...Second-team all-state as a sophomore with 17.5 points and a state-leading 13.7 rebounds along with 2.8 blocks...Earned honorable-mention all-conference laurels her freshman season...Four-time all-Northwest Kansas League selection in both volleyball and basketball...Excelled in swimming and track and field as well, owning several AAU swimming records as well as a state title in the javelin her senior year with a throw of 137-9.
