    Assistant Coach

Christopher Lewis joined the Lady Bear staff in June 2012 following a four-year stint as an assistant coach at Morgan State University.

[quote]Chris is a great addition to our staff,[quote] Nyla Milleson said upon his hire. [quote]He has experience as both a head and assistant coach, and is a basketball junkie whose ability to recruit and develop players will serve as a strong asset to the Lady Bear program.[quote]

While at Morgan State, Lewis served as the program[apos]s recruiting coordinator and helped the team to a pair of second-place finishes in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference and a WNIT appearance in 2011.

Prior to Morgan State, Lewis spent three seasons as the head women[apos]s coach at Harris-Stowe State University in St. Louis, turning a program that had lost 73 consecutive games into an NAIA National Tournament participant in his second season before going 23-10 overall in 2007-08 with a No. 20 national ranking and NAIA Round of 16 appearance in his final year, upsetting No. 4 Oklahoma City University in the process.

Lewis spent the 2004-05 season as an assistant at Missouri Baptist University, where he recruited two players who earned NAIA All-America status during their careers.

Before joining Missouri Baptist, Lewis was a student assistant coach in the women[apos]s and men[apos]s programs at his alma mater, Emporia State. The women[apos]s program compiled a 93-27 mark in four seasons, winning two Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association championships, making three trips to the national tournament and earning a Division II ranking as high as No. 2 in the nation during the 2001-02 and 2003-04 seasons.

A native of St. Louis, Mo., Lewis received his bachelor[apos]s degree in Business Administration from Emporia in 2003.

Lewis married the former Albany Blakemore in September 2012.
