Marcus Banks joined the Missouri State staff in the summer of 2026 as the head strength and conditioning coach for men's basketball and assistant strength and conditioning coach for football.
He spent the 2025 season on staff at Washington State as an assistant strength and conditioning coach for football. His role included serving as the program's director of sports science while overseeing the department interns, and managing game-day travel logistics. He arrived at WSU after spending three months in professional Rugby (MLR) with the Utah Warriors.
Banks spent three seasons with the football program at the University of Utah from 2021-23 under Kyle Whittingham. In his three seasons, the Utes won back-to-back Pac-12 championships in 2021 and 2022, made two Rose Bowl appearances and played in the 2023 Las Vegas Bowl. He has also served as an intern at Michigan under coach Jim Harbaugh; Arkansas under coach Sam Pittman; and the Chicago Bears.
Banks served two years as a graduate assistant at the University of New Orleans in strength and conditioning where he oversaw and programmed for 10 of the university's 12 sports while assisting with basketball and baseball. Prior to his time in New Orleans, he interned at Southern University, USC, Mississippi State and his alma mater Eastern Illinois.
He is certified by the Collegiate Strength and Conditioning Coaches Association (CSCCA) and the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). He also is certified as a USAW Level 1 Sports Performance Coach from Olympian Strength Coach Gayle Hatch.
Banks is a 2018 graduate of EIU where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He and his wife, Euricka, have two dogs, Sage and Kodi.
