HSC also contains athletics and building administration offices as well as offices for coaches, a lounge area and large varsity locker rooms.
HSC was constructed for $5.5 million and is named for Springfield business executive and Missouri State alumnus John Q. Hammons. Mr. Hammons' gift of $1 million to the university helped finance the operation and maintenance of the building.
HSC was home to Missouri State men's and women's basketball from 1976 through the 2007-08 season
