Meet the Bears: Oak Hill Academy Standout Kuol Joins Mo State
June 09, 2026 | Men's Basketball
SPRINGFIELD -- Missouri State men's basketball head coach Cuonzo Martin announced today the addition of 6-foot-10 freshman Kuol Kuol (pronounced KWALL) to the Bears roster for the upcoming 2026-27 season.Â
Kuol, who is from Savannah, Ga., and a product of Oak Hill Academy, is the first in a series of upcoming player announcements for Martin's squad.
"Kuol is the kind of player every coach values," said Martin. "He has shown a commitment to competing, a willingness to sacrifice, and focused effort to getting better. He brings energy, skill, and he understands that doing the little things consistently is what gives him a great advantage."
Last season, Kuol averaged 7.9 points and 5.0 rebounds per game in 14 appearances for Oak Hill Academy in Virginia. His presence helped Oak Hill finish 7-7 in the EYBL Scholastic League with the team allowing just 63.4 points per game.
Prior to his time at Oak Hill, he played at Calvary Day School in Savannah, Ga. where he was Region 3-3A co-player of the year as a junior and was an 3A all-state private school first-team selection. He averaged 17.5 points and 12.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 2.5 steals for a 19-8 Cavaliers squad in 2024-25. As a sophomore, he helped lead his team to a playoff upset of top-seeded Peach County with 14 points and 11 rebounds for coach Sceptor Brownlee.
Formerly known as Kuol Deng, he is originally from South Sudan. He is rated as a three-star recruit by Rivals, which also tabs him as the No. 208 player nationally in the 2026 class as well as the No. 24 center and No. 12 player from Georgia.
