STUNT Goes 2-2 in Weekend Slate at Kentucky

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Missouri State STUNT (14-12) beat South Carolina and UT Martin and lost to Jessup (Calif.) and Maryville this weekend at a four-game event hosted by the University of Kentucky.

Missouri State is now expected to have qualified for nationals, pending the final release by Stunt the Sport slated for April 8th. The championships will be held on April 23 until April 26, in Nashville, Texas.

"Though the team still has lots of room for improvement, I was very proud of them for showing up this weekend to do their most important job: punch the ticket to Nationals. We will continue to work and improve our levels heading into conference and nationals. I am very proud of this team and how far they have come. They are such a fun group to be around and will continue to make history," stated head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle.

Game One

Missouri State 22, South Carolina 3
The Bears opened the weekend in dominant fashion. In the first quarter of partner stunts the Bears earned five points to the Trojans' one. The pyramids and tosses further advanced the Bears' lead by two points. In the third quarter of jumps and tumbling the Bears continued with their assertive performance gaining four points without conceding any. MoState then finished the game off with 11 points earned in the team routines, to the Trojans' 2.

Game Two
Jessup (Calif.) 31, Missouri State 12
The Warriors hit the ground running with five points won in the partner stunts, to the Bears' one. The Bears tried to close the gap in the second quarter of pyramids and tosses, earning two points to the Warriors' four. In the third quarter of jumps and tumbling, the Warriors kept their lead, securing seven points to Missouri State's four. The Warriors completed the meet with a dominant fourth quarter in the team routines with 15 points earned to the Bears' five.

Game Three
Missouri State 28, UT Martin 27
The Bears showcased a tenacious spirit to win a nail-biter against the Skyhawks. In the first quarter of partner stunts, the Bears earned five points to the Skyhawks' four. In the pyramids and tosses the Skyhawks got their noses ahead winning six points to the Bears' three. In the jumps and tumbling the Bear's then earned six points in the in the jumps and tumbling to the Skyhawks' five. The Bears fought back and capped off the game by earning 14 points in the team routines to the Skyhawks' 12.

Game Four
Maryville 28, Missouri State 26
Missouri State lost a competitively contested game against the Saints. The Bears opened the first quarter of partner stunts earning three points to the Saints' four. In the pyramids and tosses, the Saints held onto the lead, with six points being awarded to the Bear's four. In the third quarter the Bears earned six points in the jumps and tumbling to the Saints' four. The Saints managed to steal the win in the team routines earning 14 points to 13 for the Bears.
