DALLAS -- Missouri State freshman guard
Trey Williams Jr. (Centralia, Ill.) was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week, the league announced Monday.
Williams averaged 12.7 points per game over the course of three straight Missouri State conference wins this week, also logging 3.0 assists and 2.3 threes per contest in Bears wins over Delaware, UTEP and New Mexico State.Â
His best game of the week was a 15-point outing against UTEP, draining 4-of-5 three-point attempts on Friday evening. He also racked up 13 points, three triples and four assists in the home win over New Mexico State on Sunday after staring the week with a 10-point effort at Delaware that featured three assists.
Williams is Missouri State's first-ever CUSA men's basketball weekly award winner.
Middle Tennessee's Alec Oglesby was named CUSA Player of the Week. MoState's
Kobi Williams was also a strong front runner for league player of the week after posting 20.0 points per game over the Bears' first three CUSA contests. Kobi logged seven threes in Sunday's win over New Mexico State as part of a career-high 32-point outburst. He also logged 20 points vs. UTEP with three triples and a 9-for-10 performance at the free throw line in the home victory.
