Woods Announces Spring Transfers; More Than 70 Bears Recommit

January 20, 2026

SPRINGFIELD – Missouri State head football coach Casey Woods announced Tuesday (Jan. 20) the addition of 22 mid-year transfers joining the Bears squad for the upcoming 2026 season. The impressive list of new squad members includes 14 FBS transfers, two FCS transfers, three players from the Division II ranks, one NAIA standout and two junior college transfers.

"In an era of college football that allows unrestricted movement, we have worked to retain more than 70 returning players and commitments from last year," said Woods. "We also have a chance to celebrate 22 new additions to the Bears family and our campus community."

The transfer list has yielded nine new additions on the offensive side of the ball for the Bears, including three offensive linemen, three wide receivers, a pair of quarterbacks and a running back. There are 12 new Bears on the defensive unit, including five defensive linemen, six defensive backs and a linebacker with one specialist also joining the squad.

"What an amazing two weeks for the Missouri State Bears family," said Woods of his first recruiting class in Springfield. "The staff has done an amazing job building relationships with our current team and answering multiple needs in the transfer portal."

Missouri State's 22 transfers come from 16 different states, including three from Ohio and two each from Alabama, Florida, North Carolina and Texas. Former Glendale product Kellen Lindstrom (DL) also returns home to Springfield after two years at Tennessee.

"Join me in welcoming our Bears back to campus and in also welcoming our newest Bears, covering a wide range of classes, positions and states, including one of Springfield's very own returning home," added Woods. "Join the Climb. Go Bears!"

The 22 transfers join a group of 14 high school players who honored their commitment to attend Missouri State from the early signing period in December, bringing the total number of new Bears to 36 for Woods' first season and the university's second season in Conference USA.

"In the first year of the new recruiting schedule, it has been an elite performance and allows us to attack this spring with the core of what we will play with next fall. We could not have done it without the tireless efforts everyone involved -- from Campus Life, Academics and Admissions, to our community partners including hotels and restaurants. It truly takes Us ALL!
