Men's Golf Wraps Up Second Fall Outing

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Missouri State men's golf team closed out the second tournament of its fall season Tuesday (Sept. 23) at Firethorn Golf Club. The Bears shot a final-round 300 and finished with 897 for 54 holes to place 12th in the Git-R-Done Invitational.
Host Nebraska went wire-to-wire to take the team championship, shooting 823, easily outdistancing runner-up Kansas State and its 840. Iowa State (842), Wichita State (854) and South Dakota State (857) rounded out the top five.
Junior Owen Swearingen was low for MSU in the last round with a one-over-par 72, while senior Tim Holmberg and freshman Noah Naugle each carded 74.Â
Overall, senior Christian Rischer was the Bears' top finisher, placing 52nd after posting 72-71-80--223, while Holmberg was 55th with 72-79-74--225. Naugle and Swearingen tied for 59th with 228, and freshman Pedro Gallegos placed 66th with 80-75-86--241.
MoState is back on the course next Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 29-30) at the Derek Dolenc Invitational in suburban St. Louis.
