On the Mat
- Missouri State is coming off a bye week after going 2-2 in its last tournament at UT Martin on March 15-16. The Bears extended their program-high winning streak to four games on the first day with wins over Centenary College and Northern Kentucky before dropping both of their games the following day against UT Martin and Central Arkansas.
- Peighton Powell had the highest power rating for the Bears against Centenary College and Central Arkansas, scoring 16 and 36 points, respectively. Maddy Olive also matched Powell's 36 points against UCA.Â
- Autumn Speckhart put up a career-high 44 points in the sweep against Northern Kentucky on March 15, surpassing the 40 she scored against Missouri Valley College on Feb. 28.
- Kaybrie Sharp was the highest-scoring Bear against UT Martin with a power rating of 24. She also scored 42 points against Northern Kentucky and 34 against Central Arkansas.
- Missouri State is one of three new Division I members to sponsor STUNT in 2025 along with Northern Kentucky and Mercyhurst, the latter of which made the jump from DII this year.
- MoState is ranked No. 6 at the DI level by collegestunt.org in its most recent rankings released on Wednesday. No. 5 Central Arkansas swapped places with MSU after its 10-9 win over Missouri State on March 16.
- The inaugural Bears STUNT team boasts a roster of 22 student-athletes with 14 coming from Missouri. The roster also includes players from Arkansas (1), Kansas (2), Illinois (2), Oklahoma (2) and Wisconsin (1).
Head Coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle
- Missouri State STUNT head coach Kennedy Wingbermuehle was named the team's inaugural head coach on Feb. 27, 2024.
- She was the head coach at Central Methodist for the 2023 and 2024 seasons, where the Eagles entered the 2025 season as the No. 3-ranked NAIA team.Â
- Wingbermuehle was the captain of the Oklahoma State cheer team and part of the 2021 NCA National Championship Team in the large coed division. She was also a member of Oklahoma State's STUNT team, earning Division I STUNT Athlete of the Year honors for a program that won seven straight national titles.
Scouting the Competition
- Missouri State opens the Music City STUNT Classic against Division I No. 1 seed California Baptist (15-0). The Lancers have won the last four NCAA National Championships and have a combined program record of 95-0 and are on pace to reach 100 consecutive wins if they win all their games this weekend. CBU defeated MSU, 24-0, back on Feb. 7.
- The Bears will rematch DI No. 7-ranked Northern Kentucky (1-14, 0-8 MAWC) after defeating the Norse, 22-0, at Skyhawk Fieldhouse on March 15. NKU earned its first win in program history against Centenary College, 8-5, on March 16.
- MoState will battle DI No. 4-ranked Mercyhurst (10-8, 2-4 MAWC) for the first time. The Lakers made the move from DII last season after going 12-11 last season with a 4-6 record in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference. Both of Mercyhurst's conference wins this year were against Northern Kentucky.
- Missouri State will also play host team Trevecca Nazarene for the first time on Saturday. The Trojans (19-2, 4-1 MAWC) compete at the DII level and are the No. 8-ranked DII team. Trevecca Nazarene also made the move from the GMAC this year after going 18-9 in 2024. This season, the Trojans have won all but two games against Kentucky on Feb. 1 at the Bluegrass Classic and to Hope International, the No. 1-ranked NAIA team that is 23-0 this season, on March 15 at the Pacific Northwest Open.
Mid America West Conference
- Missouri State STUNT competes in the Mid America West Conference, a STUNT conference that consists of Central Arkansas, Kentucky, Mercyhurst, Missouri State, Northern Kentucky, Trevecca Nazarene and UT Martin.
- All seven MAWC teams will be seeded for the double-elimination Mid-America West Tournament starting on April 4-5 at the Historic Memorial Coliseum in Lexington, Kentucky.
