DALLAS – Missouri State's inaugural football season in Conference USA came into focus Thursday with the league's announcement of its 2025 schedule.

Missouri State will open CUSA play at home on Saturday, Sept. 27 against Western Kentucky at Robert W. Plaster Stadium. The Bears and Hilltoppers have not met since WKU left the Gateway Conference in 2006 as part of its move to the FBS level. WKU is coming off an 8-6 season and an appearance in the Boca Raton Bowl.

Missouri State head coach Ryan Beard, a native of Bowling Green, Ky., was a standout defensive back for the Hilltoppers from 2007-11.

October features three Wednesday games on Missouri State's conference slate. The month begins with road contests at Middle Tennessee (Oct. 8) and New Mexico State (Oct. 22) which sandwich a bye week on Oct. 15. Both the Blue Raiders and Aggies were 3-9 overall in 2024.

The Bears return to Plaster Stadium on Wednesday, Oct. 29 to take on FIU in MSU's first-ever Wednesday home game and first-ever meeting against the Panthers. FIU is coming off a 4-8 season.

Saturday games return to the ledger for the month of November with the busy stretch kicking off with a trip to Lynchburg, W.Va., to take on Liberty on Nov. 8. The Flames were 8-4 in 2024 with an appearance in the Bahamas Bowl. Missouri State and Liberty have split two previous meetings, playing most recently in 1994.

The Bears return to Springfield to entertain UTEP on Saturday, Nov. 15 in the first-ever game against the Miners. UTEP was 3-9 last season.

The last two regular-season contests include Missouri State's first-ever trip to Kennesaw State on Nov. 22 and a home regular-season finale against Louisiana Tech on Saturday, Nov. 29. The Owls, who were 2-10 in 2024, have played the Bears once previously -- a 2019 meeting at Plaster Stadium. The only previous meeting between the Bears and LA Tech was in 1987. The Bulldogs were 5-8 overall in 2024 but played in the Independence Bowl in Shreveport.

Missouri State will not play fellow CUSA newcomer Delaware, defending CUSA champion Jacksonville State or Sam Houston in its first season as a member of the 12-team league.

All game times will be determined at a later date, based on television assignments.

MoState's four-game non-conference schedule was announced previously and includes an Aug. 30 season opener at USC; a trip to Marshall on Sept. 6; a highly-anticipated home opener against SMU on Sept. 13; and a matchup with UT Martin on Sept. 20.

Coach Beard begins his third season at Missouri State after finishing the 2024 season with an 8-4 overall record and a 6-2 ledger in Missouri Valley Football Conference (MVFC) play to finish one game behind the league's tri-champions. The Bears won eight straight games from Sept. 14 to Nov. 9 and eclipsed 5,000 total yards, 400 points and 3,600 passing yards in their final season in the FCS ranks. The Bears landed 12 players on the All-MVFC Team, three on the MVFC All-Newcomer Team and two players on the AP FCS All-America Team.
