Linthacum Collects Second Valley Newcomer of the Week Honor

ST. LOUIS – Missouri State women's basketball forward Sarah Linthacum earned her second Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week honor, the league announced today (Jan. 6).

Across wins against Belmont and Murray State, Linthacum averaged 14.5 points, 6.5 rebounds and 3.0 assists per game while shooting .591 (13-22) from the field. She was MoState's second-leading scorer last week and her field goal percentage paced the Lady Bears.

In Thursday night's win over Belmont, the 6-3 forward posted a game-high 17 points (7-11 FG, 3-4 FT) in addition to pulling down eight rebounds, six of which came on the offensive glass. On Saturday afternoon, Linthacum contributed 12 points (6-11 FG), five rebounds, four assists and two steals as the Lady Bears defeated Murray State.

The Jefferson City, Mo., native now has 10 double-figure scoring performances on the year and she is Missouri State's leading rebounder with 77 (5.5 per game). Linthacum is also the Lady Bears' third-leading scorer at 10.6 points per game. The honor marks her second MVC weekly award this season.

Missouri State (10-4, 2-1 MVC) will close out its three-game home stand on Sunday, January 12 as the Lady Bears welcome Southern Illinois to Great Southern Bank Arena. Tipoff is set for 2 p.m. and the game will stream on ESPN+. At Sunday's game, all kids 12 and under get in free and the first 500 fans receive a free scarf courtesy of Great Southern Bank.
