Plessner Named to 2024 CUSA All-Academic Team

DALLAS - Missouri State beach volleyball senior Brooke Plessner (Sr., O'Fallon, Mo.) has been named to the 2024 Conference USA Beach Volleyball All-Academic first team, the league announced Friday morning. Plessner is the first Missouri State player to make a CUSA All-Academic Team.
"There are two parts to being an athlete in college: student and athlete," Plessner said. "Sometimes as athletes, we forget the main reason we are in college is to pursue a degree and further our education. As a student, I have always prioritized academics and hold myself to a high standard."Â
Plessner, the all-time program leader in wins with 46 in her career, joins nine other student-athletes as honorees this season. She finished the 2024 regular season with a 25-4 record (25-3 at flight No. 5) alongside her freshman partner Maddie Schrandt. Their 25 wins are the most by a Bears pair in a single season.
"Being an athlete has complimented my education by teaching me time management, discipline and how to overcome challenges," Plessner said. "I am extremely grateful that I have experienced the joys of being a student-athlete."
The Bears are in the midst of a record-breaking season, sitting at 24-5 overall with a perfect 14-0 home record following Missouri State's sweeps in Thursday's regular season finale against McKendree and Oklahoma Wesleyan. Missouri State will compete in its first Conference USA Tournament in Youngsville, Louisiana on April 25-27.
