GOODYEAR, Ariz. -- The Missouri State men's golf team concluded its second tournament of the spring Tuesday (Feb. 27), placing 14th at the Loyola Intercollegiate over three days at Palm Valley Golf Club.
The Bears, who posted 288-286-287--861 as a team, were led by senior Hampus Wijkstrom, who tied for eighth by carding 71-68-70--209, seven-under-par for the tournament. Senior Eric Schuessler notched a strong finish, tying for 20th after shooting 71-70-71--212, while the Bears' other senior, Max Kreikemeier, shot 70-73-74--217 to tie for 51st. Junior Ludvig Wijkstrom tied for 96th with 76-75-74--225 and freshman Andrew Fallis posted 79-79-72--230 and tied for 108th.
North Dakota State went wire-to-wire in winning the team title by 15 shots over runners-up Northern Colorado and Loyola (Md.) as the Bison shot 40-under-par as a team, posting an 824 team score. Marshall and Howard rounded out the top five with 848 and 849, respectively. Delaware finished sixth, followed by Seton Hall, Drake, Gonzaga and Bucknell rounding out the top 10 in the 20-team field.
The Bears are back in action next Monday and Tuesday (Mar. 4-5) at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational in Houston, Texas.
