ST. LOUIS -- Missouri State guard
Dez White (Jefferson City, Mo.) was named Missouri Valley Conference Newcomer of the Week on Monday after a stellar week on the court for the Bears.
A transfer from Austin Peay, the sophomore standout averaged 19.3 points per game for the week with games against Boston College, South Dakota State and Oral Roberts. He was also 50-percent (9-of-18) from 3-point range and made 90 percent of his free throws (17-of-19).
White's week included a game-high 25 points against the ACC's Boston College in a narrow Cayman Islands Classic semifinal loss. He followed that with a team-high 15 points vs. SDSU the next evening with four 3-pointers. White then opened December with a team-high 18 points in Sunday's win at Oral Roberts, knocking down four more triples and dishing out a game-high five assists in the Bears' first road win of the year.
White was MSU's representative on the Cayman Islands Classic All-Tournament Team.
